Karina and Bronson married at Eynesbury Homestead, the old bluestone homestead in Melbourne's west, on the last Saturday of February 2026. We were with them from ten in the morning until ten at night, photographing and filming the whole day, and all of it happened in one place: the getting ready in the homestead's rooms, the vows on the lawn under the gums, portraits around the grounds and the golf course, and a long night in the marquee.

It was a grey summer day, overcast from the first frame to the last. That gave us soft, even light everywhere we went, with no harsh shadows on the lawn or the white veranda, and the champagne satin and the yellow and white flowers kept their colour all day.

The bridal room

Karina got ready in a white room inside the homestead, with built-in bookshelves, a grey sofa and a tall sash window. The bridesmaids' champagne dresses were already hanging on a rail, their shoes lined up underneath, and the rings and jewellery were laid out for the day beside two little booklets marked "His vows" and "Her vows". The makeup artist worked by a ring light and kept Karina laughing, the champagne came out, and two small photo lockets were held open for us in the palm of a hand. The flower girl and a baby both wore flower crowns. Karina sat in her white robe with her hair pinned up, waiting for the dress.

Bronson and the boys

Bronson and his groomsmen had their own corner of the homestead, and it could not have looked more different: a billiard room with a green pool table and gold patterned wallpaper, a library lined with dark green shelves, and a room with a bay window. The boys played pool while the morning went on. Bronson's black loafers, cufflinks and watch waited on a marble mantelpiece, and just after two a groomsman did up his cufflinks in the bay window. Then the groomsmen, in grey suits, crowded into the window with him and clowned around, and Bronson, in his cream linen jacket, couldn't stop smiling.

Into the dress

Back in the bridal room, Karina put in her earrings while her lace gown hung in the tall window beside her. A woman in royal blue, who had been with her all morning, leaned in and kissed the top of her head. A little before three Karina was dressed, with her long veil in place, and her dad came in to see her. He pulled her straight into a hug. Then her three bridesmaids in champagne satin linked arms with her in front of the bookshelves, and Karina laughed her way through the last few minutes before the ceremony.

Down the aisle

Outside, the guests had gathered on the lawn under the gums and palms and taken their seats in rows of white folding chairs, and the celebrant welcomed them. At two minutes past three the bridesmaids and the flower girl came down the homestead's white staircase and out along the gravel path, while the groomsmen in grey walked down the drive. Bronson waited at the front with a groomsman, white and yellow flowers at his feet. Then Karina came out on her dad's arm, along the curved gravel path from the homestead and down the grass aisle, smiling the whole way, with the bluestone and the veranda behind her.

Vows under the gums

They faced each other under the tall gums, an old dry stone wall behind them, and held hands. Their vows came from the matching booklets we had seen that morning. Bronson read from "His vows" with the microphone in his hand, and Karina read hers into the microphone too. As she spoke, one of the groomsmen had to cover his mouth. Bronson grinned as Karina slid his ring onto his finger, and at 3.27 they kissed, with their guests watching from the white chairs.

Husband and wife

They signed at a timber desk set out on the lawn, both of them smiling. Then came the walk back down the aisle. Two of the groomsmen strode down the grass past the guests, the guests fired bubble guns and cheered from both sides, and Karina and Bronson walked out together under the gums. They kept going, back along the gravel drive towards the homestead, arm in arm.

Family on the front lawn

Inside, the bridesmaids bustled Karina's train so she could walk the grounds for the rest of the day. Then the family photographs began on the front lawn of the homestead, under a big spreading tree with the veranda behind: the bridesmaids cheering with their bouquets in front of the bluestone, Karina holding the baby and Bronson holding the flower girl, then the whole family with their arms in the air. At five the bridal party came together on the gravel in front of the old trees and laughed through every frame.

The two of them

Then it was just the two of them for most of an hour. Under the grey sky the light was soft everywhere, so we could simply wander. Out on the open lawn among the palms and the old trees, Karina threw her head back laughing. On the curved gravel drive Bronson twirled her, and the breeze took her veil out behind them. We stopped for their hands and new rings. The golf course runs right up to the grounds, so they took golf cart number 19 out for a spin, Bronson waving as they went. We finished in front of the bluestone homestead and its white veranda.

Into the marquee

The reception was in the marquee beside the homestead, with white drapes across the ceiling, two chandeliers and strings of bulbs. Before the entrances, Bronson danced with the flower girl out on the timber deck beside a wine barrel. At six the bridal party danced in, one groomsman in sunglasses swinging a white napkin, and a few minutes later Karina and Bronson walked in under the chandeliers with their guests on their feet and cheering. They cut the cake at a wine barrel and went straight into their first dance on the timber floor.

Dances and speeches

Just after seven the dance floor belonged to family. Karina danced with her dad and held him tight, and Bronson laughed his way through a dance with the woman in royal blue. The family piled onto the floor and hammed it up for the camera, and then every guest in the marquee squeezed onto the dance floor for one photograph, arms in the air. Dinner came after, at a long head table with a swagged white skirt, yellow and white flowers and candles, with the speeches made from behind a wine barrel set up as a lectern. Karina had her heart-shaped sunglasses pushed up on her head.

The party

Just before nine Karina tossed her bouquet over her shoulder, and half an hour later Bronson knelt for the garter while she laughed. Later she changed out of her gown into a short white party dress, and she spent the rest of the night in the middle of the dance floor with Bronson and their friends, laughing, dancing in a line and staying there until ten.
