Adelaide weddings move differently.

Intimate winery dinners in the Adelaide Hills, coastal ceremonies down on the Fleurieu, long-table receptions in McLaren Vale, quiet garden weddings tucked around the city. The pace is slower here, the light stays golden longer, and the best moments usually happen in between the schedule.

We're Jay Chubby Wedding, a small studio with photographers and videographers based in Adelaide. The people you meet while planning are the people photographing your day.

How we photograph an Adelaide wedding

Adelaide weddings have their own rhythm. The timelines feel slower, the venues breathe more, and the best moments tend to happen when nobody is trying too hard. That's the energy we lean into.

We keep things calm, organised and unobtrusive. We guide when it helps, step back when a moment is already working, and never turn your wedding into an all-day photoshoot. Family photos stay efficient, portraits stay natural, and the day keeps moving.

Our style sits between documentary and editorial: honest moments first, beautiful light second, trends last. We love the vineyard sunsets of the Hills, the soft coastal light around the Fleurieu and the quiet intimacy Adelaide venues seem to have naturally.

Where we shoot in Adelaide

We cover Adelaide, the country around it and the coast. These are the places we know best.

Adelaide CBD and inner city
Adelaide Botanic Garden, North Terrace, Treasury 1860, State Library, Glenelg. Adelaide's inner city suits couples who want elegant architecture, softer crowds and a more relaxed pace than bigger cities.
Adelaide Hills
Golding Wines, Bird in Hand, The Lane, Howard Vineyard, Mount Lofty House, Mandalay House. Probably the heart of South Australian weddings. Long vineyard views, soft golden sunsets and venues made for slow, intimate celebrations.
Barossa Valley
Kingsford The Barossa, Chateau Yaldara, St Hugo, Lambert Estate. Bigger landscapes, historic buildings and vineyard venues. The Barossa suits editorial portraits and full weekend celebrations.
McLaren Vale
Down the Rabbit Hole, Mitolo, Coriole, Bec Hardy, Serafino. Warm, cinematic and slightly coastal at the same time, with wide open landscapes and some of the best reception atmospheres in the state.
Fleurieu Peninsula and the coast
Victor Harbor, Aldinga, Port Willunga, Normanville. Coastal weddings here feel quieter and more natural than most city beaches. Wind, changing light and open space make every gallery a little different.
Regional South Australia
Farm weddings, destination weddings, multi-day celebrations. Some of our favourite weddings happen far outside the city, where things feel less rushed and more personal.

A mix, shaped by the day

Documentary Observational coverage of real interactions as they unfold. This is how we photograph most ceremonies, receptions and in-between moments.

Editorial More guided: clean composition, elegant posing and fashion-inspired framing, for winery venues, modern architecture and couples who want portraits that feel elevated without feeling stiff.

Cinematic Warm light, richer tones and movement, inspired by cinema. Hills sunsets, coastline and vineyard receptions suit it naturally.

Most weddings become a mix of all three, tailored to the day rather than locked in from the start.

★★★★★

Jay and Sofia were absolutely fantastic. They were such a wonderful part of our celebration and made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. We absolutely love our photos. We didn’t realise we were such a handsome couple until we saw them.

Questions couples ask

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Adelaide?
Our photography collections start at $1,190 for three hours and run to $3,990 for twelve. Most Adelaide couples choose between six and ten hours depending on their timeline and venues. Every inclusion is on the photography packages page.
Do you offer photography and videography together in Adelaide?
Yes, and most Adelaide couples book both. Photo and video collections start at $2,490, with one coordinated team. See photo and video in Adelaide.
How far ahead should we book?
For peak season across Adelaide and the Hills, book 9 to 12 months ahead. Winery venues and spring Saturdays go first, while weekday and winter weddings are usually more flexible.
Do you travel around South Australia?
Yes, regularly: the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, the Barossa, the Fleurieu Peninsula and regional South Australia. Travel within 50 km of the CBD is included, and longer trips are quoted individually.
Will you direct us, or just observe?
Most of the day is photographed quietly as it happens. For portraits we give gentle direction, so things still feel relaxed and natural rather than posed.
How many photos will we get, and when?
From 200+ edited photos for three hours to 900+ for twelve. A sneak peek arrives within 48 hours and the complete gallery within 3 weeks. We only deliver fully edited images.
Who photographs Adelaide weddings?
Jay, Sofia and Megan photograph our Adelaide weddings and Serkan films them, and Jay guides the editing and storytelling of every wedding. Meet them on the team page.
What if it rains on the day?
Rain doesn't stop a good gallery. Eli and Charlotte's ceremony under the pines at Adelaide Botanic Garden went ahead in the rain, with clear umbrellas for the bridal party, and you can see how it turned out in their story. Keep a covered spot in mind for portraits, and choose umbrellas you'd be happy to see in the photos.
